4/17/08 - One man is believed to be responsible for a total of eight bank robberies across Michigan and Ohio since September but his identity remains a mystery. On February 15th, the TCF Bank branch in downtown Brighton was robbed. Then on Friday, April 11th a bank in downtown Findlay, Ohio was robbed.
In between there were other hold-ups in Toledo, Napoleon and Swanton in Ohio and others in Michigan in Hillsdale, Adrian, Dundee and Brighton. Findlay Police tell WHMI that almost immediately they were able to link the suspect to the robberies based on photographs and suspect descriptions. Brighton Police Chief Tom Wightman agrees that it appears to be the same suspect and says they continue to investigate the robbery with FBI assistance. In all eight robberies, the suspect has appeared without a mask but is usually wearing a baseball cap and glasses. Anyone with information or tips is asked to contact Brighton City Police at (810) 227-2700 or the FBI. (JM)
